Great Opportunity to race a 3YO Bay Gelding by
successful International sire who will not return to our shores -
GALILEO
IN WORK NOW!

GALILEO (IRE) is the greatest son of World Champion and now
Super Sire, SADLER’S WELLS. At the track, GALILEO
won an incredible six races from only eight starts, four at Group level.
Blitzing the field to win by 17 lengths at his first start at 2, GALILEO
went on to win 5 of 6 starts in his Classic season incl. the Epsom Derby [G1]
- by an impressive 15 ½ lengths, as well as the Curragh Irish Derby [G1]
and the Ascot King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond S. [G1].
His impressive record saw him crowned Champion European 3YO on International
Classification in 2001. GALILEO is half brother to current
International 3YO Champion SEA THE STARS.
Entering stud in 2002, GALILEO has now sired 10 G1 winners incl. recently
retired Epsom Derby [G1] winner and now sire son NEW APPROACH. Other
G1 winners
include RED ROCKS, winner of the Breeders Cup Turf [G1], Irish stayer
TEOFILO (Newmarkt
Dewhurst S. [G1], Curragh National S. [G1]), Timeform’s top rated 2YO in 2006,
as well as LUSH LASHES, SOLDIER OF FORTUNE, SIXTIES ICON, and Irish One Thousand
Guineas [G1] winner NIGHTIME amidst a host of International Stakes winners.
In Australia, GALILEO has achieved Stakes success in G3 winner and 2008
Melbourne Cup placegetter (3d) MAHLER, multiple G1 placed and
G2 winning GALLANT
TESS (Breeders Cl. [G2]; Chelmsford S. [G2]),
G1 placed Banc de Fortune (2d Arrowfield S. [G1]), as well as
SW’s Discorsi, Personify, Reprisal and Luvuleo.
LAELENE (by NATURALISM) is the unraced dam of this gelding.
Larry’s Never Late,
the exciting Qld Derby [G1] Derby 3rd placegetter, is out of this gelding’s 2nd
dam, SO LIKE LAE, also the dam of Caulfield Cup [G1] runner up,
LAEBEEL. Second
dam, city winner SO LIKE LAE, is the dam of 9 winners at stud. Third dam is the
Adelaide Cup [G1] winner LAELIA who boasts a perfect record at stud.
Favoured by Tony Santic as the first to serve his Champion mare, MAKYBE DIVA,
GALILEO is now deemed too valuable to continue to shuttle to Australia. He has
not returned since 2006 and his 2008 stud fee was reported to be 225,000 Euros.
From a terrific staying family, this gelding is now in work.
We know that GALILEO progeny do best on Australian soil once they mature, so we
shouldn’t have to wait long to see this boy’s best. To be trained by Brian
Jenkins at Cranbourne, a proven trainer of stayers (trainer of 1998 Melbourne
Cup [G1] winner JEZABEEL), he should fit right in.
Don’t pass up an opportunity to race a gelding by one of the best International
Sires with a terrific dam pedigree to boot.
