Hailing from a Classic European Family, GOLAN is by Irish 2000 Guineas winner SPECTRUM, himself a son of Arc winner and Champion sire RAINBOW QUEST. Both GOLAN’s first and second dam’s are by English Derby winners (GENEROUS and SHIRLEY HEIGHTS) and his full brother is the 2008 English & Irish Derby winner TARTAN BEARER.

Crowned the equal highest rated 4YO in 2002, GOLAN was victorious in the English 2000 Guineas [G1] (1600m) and the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes [G1] (2400m), finishing 2nd in the English Derby, 3rd in the Irish Derby and 4th in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Shuttling between Coolmore’s Irish base and Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge, NZ, GOLAN’s first 3YO Southern hemisphere crop yielded a classic winner in KIBBUTZ (VRC Victoria Derby [G1]), as well as Qld Derby [G1] runner up Petushki. His subsequent crop included 3 further Stakes performers.
This is the 3rd foal for winning dam, Successfilly (by Success Express). She has only one foal to race to date, multiple winning Ustino a Girl. Second dam SEQOYA has produced 3 winners incl. multiple winners No Stops (5 wins) and Towering Success (7 wins). Third dam RED DAME boasts 6 winners at stud incl.
