The Leading Freshman Sire in America in 2006 by prizemoney and no. of winners, JOHANNESBURG now shares the lead on the Australian First Season Sires Table by winners following the victory of 2YO daughter Joburg Rose on 11th March. Only Wood, the SP dam of this filly, is the dam of 3 winners including 3YO Viscount Filly, Kaydee Wood. Second dam, ONLY A RUMOUR, the winner of 5 races incl. Saint-Cloud Prix de Flore [G3] as well as 2 other Stakes Wins, is the dam of five to the races for 5 winners incl. TE LAWRENCE (Naples Gran Premio Citta di Napoli [G3]). Note: JOHANNESBURG enjoyed his first Stakes winner at Caulfield on Saturday 9th February when the Anthony Cummings trained colt Turffontein powered home to claim the Listed MRC Wellington Racing Club Stakes.
