Four runs this preparation for only one placing - a second in the G2 Autumn
Classic at Caulfield on the 1st March. With Black type on his side, he has
certainly proved that he has above average ability and also increased his value
substantially. Feeling that he required a break after a disappointing 8th at
Caulfield on 22nd Caulfield, Allanthus is now back in full work and we expect a
first start at Caulfield on 10th May. We expect him to go on with the good form
he displayed on the track last preparation.
01.02.2008
A few races on from the last update and Allanthus is now a force to be reckoned
with. He has not been unplaced since his first start at Cranbourne and has also
notched up two wins, the first over 1400m at Ballarat and the second over 1512m
in Geelong. Michael Rodd rode Allanthus to both victories and expects him to
improve further as Brian sends him over more ground. Look for him in town in the
coming months.
01.11.2007
Allanthus' long-awaited first start was at Cranbourne in mid-October where, from
the car park, he never had much chance over 1200m. Pushing up to 1400m at Terang
at the end of the month, he ran a great race, looking the winner in the straight
only to run second. However, it did prove that he has a motor and will only
improve from here. Brian is likely to look for a bit more ground over his next
couple of starts.
01.08.2007
Barrier practice and more barrier practice was the state of play throughout July
as the track at Riverend Park remained largely under water. He is not too far
away from jumpout stage now and we expect Brian to schedule him in at some stage
in August.
01.07.2007
Arriving at Riverend Park late in June, Members who attended the Riverend Park
Open Morning could not have failed to be impressed by the big, strapping
chestnut. Looking very much a racehorse, he commenced light work with Brian
immediately.
01.06.2007
An infection following his little operation preceded another trip to the
hospital in May. However, all problems seem to be behind him now and we look
forward to seeing him in the flesh at Riverend Park for the Open Morning on June
23.
01.05.2007
Allanthus was gelded in April - just another event that has set his trip to
Melbourne back a few weeks. However, recovering well towards the end of the
month, Dean is set to inspect him on May 15 and book the float to Melbourne -
not a day too soon.
01.04.2007
Playing up for Brendan in March causing a small cut on his foot, it seems that
anything that can go wrong does go wrong with this colt. However, they are all
minor setbacks and we still expect to see him at Brian's stables at the end of
April.
01.03.2007
Another abscess on his foot on February, putting his work back only slightly,
was tempered with news that we have a name. Our Street Cry colt is - Allanthus -
or `tree of heaven' (the Colt is from My Family Tree).
01.02.2007
Unfortunately the colt's late return to work in mid January meant that a
transfer to Brian's stables in late January was simply not on the cards. In
stead, he will work over the hills at Bethanga probably until late February when
he will make the trip to Melbourne.
01.01.2007
Recommencing work in December, the bushfires in the Northeast then caused havoc
as dense smoke became inescapable. As such, work did not progress as planned. At
this stage, we hope the Colt will arrive at Brian Jenkins stables in late
January.
01.12.2006
Returning to work in November, the Colt cut his leg after only a week's work.
Although not too serious, this did hold him up somewhat and the idea that he
would arrive in Melbourne in early January was put back. Inspecting the colt on
Wodonga Cup Day, our Bloodstock Agent was blown away with the size of the colt.
He has grown into an extremely athletic, powerful colt and Brendan is pleased
with the way his leg is now healing.
01.11.2006
Completing his breaking-in in September, the colt spent the month of October in
the paddock. We expect his to commence pre-training with Brendan at Bethanga
Park at some point in November.
01.10.2006
Finishing his breaking in September, we hope to give him a short break in order
to see him in Melbourne in late November.
01.09.2006
The Street Cry Colt is now nearing the end of his breaking, coping with
everything that has been thrown at him with ease. There are now only a couple of
shares remaining in our impressive colt who we hope will complete his first
preparation by early Autumn 2007.
Street Cry progeny continue to impress throughout Europe - let's hope our colt
is also bred to succeed.
01.08.2006
It was decided toward the end of July that Brendan will start breaking the colt
in at the beginning of August.
01.07.2006
After parading at Brian Jenkins' Open Day, the Street Cry Colt has returned to
agistment property, Bethanga Park. We intend leaving him in the paddock for the
duration of winter and then bring him into work in early Spring.
