It certainly has been a long time coming for owners of Astronomo, now a 3YO gelding, but it looks as though they will shortly witness his racetrack debut. It has taken a long time to get the big Galileo gelding fit enough to trial, but trainer Russell Cameron is looking to trial him in early May and, if he comes through the trial without any breathing issues at all, straight to the races.

Astronomo, also gelded whilst on sick leave, is now back in full work, getting the miles into his legs. He has had no difficulties with his breathing to date and we expect that he will debut in the not too distant future. With a number of Galileo's presently in the Clanbrooke stable, we certainly think that Galileo's require the time to mature in order to reach their full potential in Australian conditions.

Astronomo has spent the last few months recuperating in the paddock, has recovered extremely well and should be back in the stable in mid November. Given the outstanding Melbourne Cup results for Galileo progeny (2nd and 3rd), we are confident that Australian conditions are ripe for 3 and 4YO progeny to really fire.

Having the small operation in July, Astronomo is now recuperating well in the paddocks at Riverend Park.

01.07.2007

Members were pleased to inspect the gelding at the Riverend Park Open Morning in late June. However, a small problem that had been troubling the gelding, a `throaty' noise when he galloped, came to a head late in the month, the vet electing to operate. The operation is scheduled for early July and he is expected to make a full recovery and remain on track to become a racehorse.

01.06.2007

Going through the early stages of his preparation throughout May, Astronomo developed a little cough towards the end of the month, holding him up for a few days. With a little R&R however, he should be back working over 800m in even pace in the near future.

Spelling throughout the month of April, Brian intends bringing Astronomo back in early May.

01.04.2007

Spelling during March, Members did decide on a name at their `naming dinner'. The winning name was - Astronomo (self-explanatory).

Working nicely for Brian throughout February and striding over 1000m towards the end of the month, the colt had had enough towards the end of the month and went to the paddock for a spell.

01.02.2007

The Colt returned to Brian's stable in mid January and commenced work on the walking machine.

01.01.2007

The Galileo Colt has had a mini jumpout, coming through it well but was then sent to the paddock for a short let-up of about 3-4 weeks from 16th December.

01.12.2006 6

The Colt spent the month of November doing basic trackwork around Riverend Park, coupled with plenty of walking. According to all who have inspected him, he looks big and strong and every inch the racehorse.

Brought back to the stables in late October, Dean inspected soon after, reporting that he is indeed a lovely horse. Brian believes he has Derby written all over him so let's hope that this time next year reaps some rewards for connections.

01.09.2006

The Galileo commenced work with Brian Jenkins in September. However, an enforced break due to a serious injury to his track rider saw his preparation put back about a week. It is onwards and upwards from here and we hope to see him at the track in December.
